Systematic Review of Quantitative and Qualitative Research on Divorce Factors

Abstract:

Background: Divorce has always been one of the five main issues in the country and one of the criteria for community health. Therefore the purpose of this study is to investigate quantitative and qualitative researches on the factors affecting divorce through systematic review. Method: The research community includes all the quantitative and qualitative articles published (2006-2016) regarding the causes of divorce. Seventy quantitative and qualitative researches have been selected and reviewed individually. Result: The findings of the research show that the highest share of the individual and personality traits factors is the variable of addiction (in quantitative research 14.28% and in qualitative research 32.3%), followed by verbal and physical violence in the quantitative research 28.84% and in the qualitative section 21.42%. The economic variables of the economic problems being 10.71% and unemployment 14.7% in both categories are the most frequent in researches. Among social factors, the interference of families and people around them being 17.85% in quantitative researches and 21.42% in qualitative researches have the highest share. In addition, among the cultural factors studied in the researches, the idealism and positive imagery of the consequences of divorce being 14.7% in quantitative and quantitative research, the negative effects of media being 10.71% in qualitative research have the highest percentage in comparison with other variables. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the research, the researchers made a final analysis using Boudon’s model to determine the final pattern of divorce but there is no possibility of designing a comprehensive model for that.
